06.04. – 07.04.2019, Kaltenbrunn: Teambuilding in Southern Germany

Farmhouse baccalaureate for urban plants

Our non-Bavarian readers may be blunt at the word “farmer’s baccalaureate.” What’s that supposed to be? In southern Germany, this is called “Mittlere Reife”, in BVG it means: team building of a special kind. At the beginning of April, the BVG employees met at Gut Kaltenbrunn to face future challenges together. There, they completed a pentathlon that left no eye dry.

Sound of the mountains

Gut Kaltenbrunn lies on the northern shore of Lake Tegernsee in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps, how beautiful: pure postcard idyll! The participants were even more amazed by the alphorn players, who welcomed them with a traditional serenade. The melodious opening and a welcome schnapps provided for best mood. Instructed by their guides and divided into five groups, the “high school graduates” were now really hot for their five exams: “Okay. Let’s get ready to rumbleeeeeeeeeeeee!!!”

Strip Strap Strull

Now it was time to prove yourself by pushing the mug, throwing hats, nailing competitions, shooting and milking cows. The unusual disciplines demanded a lot of endurance and skill from all participants. After all, as an IT specialist you have to deal primarily with bits, bytes and digital data streams and hack a little into the keyboard. But betting nails or cow milking? So there wasn’t much to see of “milk streams”, of course: stripp, strapp, strull and the bucket is full! Very few people ever managed to wrest more than a few droplets from Trudi milk cows. What would have been enough for a Cafè Latte… A little more sensitivity in the fingers would be needed here. Thanks to you Trudi, for your calmness and patience!

Motivation from Alm-Öhi

The participants gained points again by nailing and pushing the pitcher. Even if the beer jug has overshot the target for one or the other… no matter! Obviously it was a lot of fun, where everyone cheered each other on loud, passionate and cheering. Maybe it was also due to the ‘Alm-Öhis’, who drove their respective teams to top performances…? In the end, the Hirschkuss group emerged as the well-deserved winners. But all participants had passed their “farmer’s diploma”.

After so much shirt-sleeved action all teambuilders were looking forward to a sumptuous dinner. In the historical ambience of Gut Kaltenbrunn – and with proper music accompaniment – Feinkost Käfer served up a first-class dinner that left nothing to be desired. Around midnight the merry evening came to an end and a bus transfer took us back to the hotel in Kreuth. During breakfast the next morning one or the other BVG employee made a somewhat hangover impression, not unusual after the super buzz the night before. But rumour has it that some of the Cafè Latte-drinkers did without the milk in their coffee this time, funny, isn’t it?

Let’s get ready to rumbleeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!“

Strip Strap Strull
